Stewed Pears (Dairy, Gluten/Grain and Refined Sugar Free)

Pear season is fast approaching.  One of my favourite pear dishes is a simple stewed pears.  This recipe is great served warm or cold, right from the fridge.  I am sure this would also taste great with some Coconut Whipped Cream on top.
Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 5 ripe pears sliced into 1/2 inch wedges
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon gluten free vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup if vegan
  • 1 tablespoon psyllium husk (optional to thicken syrup)

  1. Add all ingredients to a medium size sauce pan.
  2. Bring to a boil and turn to simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Serve warm or cold.
